We’re hiring a Senior Accountant to join our finance team, reporting to the Director of Finance. In this role, you’ll join a lean, high-impact finance team that supports a growing multi-entity organization spanning insurance operations and international subsidiaries. You'll own key pieces of the monthly close process, serve as a primary point of contact for the annual audit, and help build the processes and controls that let finance scale with the business. This role has real ownership and visibility in a fast-moving company. Detail oriented, naturally curious, self-starting problem solvers will thrive here.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own key components of the monthly close process, including cash reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely results
- Perform day-to-day revenue operations, including reviewing and documenting new and amended contracts, applying appropriate accounting guidance, tracking premiums, commissions, claims, and related fees, maintaining contract records, and ensuring contracts tie to the general ledger
- Manage the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections follow-up, cash application, and aging review, and continuously improve AR workflows
- Account for multi-entity activity, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations, consolidation support, and international subsidiaries
- Manage the Deel platform for international employees and contractors, including payment processing, funding, reconciliation, and related accounting
- Prepare GAAP financial statements and management reporting, including variance analysis and ad hoc requests from leadership
- Research technical accounting matters under US GAAP and document conclusions in clear accounting memos
- Lead day-to-day annual audit execution: prepare PBC schedules and supporting analyses and serve as a primary contact for external auditors
- Assist with building the annual budget, including gathering inputs, developing schedules, and supporting budget-to-actual analysis
- Oversee accounts payable: review and approve AP processing, manage vendor setup, and own 1099 compliance
- Design and improve finance processes, internal controls, and automation within Sage Intacct and related tools
- Work closely with legal, tech, and sales departments on operations and data integrity
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 4–8 years of accounting experience, ideally a combination of public accounting (audit) and private industry
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and month-end close processes, and the ability to research and apply technical accounting guidance
- Experience preparing financial statements and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail - your reconciliations tie out and you catch what others miss
- Curiosity and strong problem-solving skills: you want to understand why a number moved, and you can work through ambiguous issues without a playbook
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to manage your own deadlines and work independently in a remote environment
- Clear written and verbal communication with auditors, advisors, and non-finance colleagues
What's Great to Have
- Insurance accounting experience (MGA/agency, carrier, reinsurance, or insurtech)
- Experience with Sage Intacct
- CPA license, or progress toward one
- Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Multi-entity, intercompany, and/or foreign currency accounting experience
- Experience managing outside service providers such as auditors and tax advisors
- Experience with Deel or other global payroll/contractor payment platforms
- Budgeting and forecasting experience
- Interest in using automation and AI tools to streamline accounting work
