Overview

The Associate Actuary, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, will be responsible for leading the actuarial ratemaking function, the actuarial loss reserving function, and providing analytical support for corporate-wide business activities and decisions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the ratemaking process, including rate indications, risk classification, rating plan design, and competitor analysis.
  • Producing loss reserving analysis.
  • Collaborating with other functional areas to execute rate reviews and gain regulatory approval for rate filings.
  • Providing actuarial thought leadership by researching and advocating for applicable and appropriate techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Creating a high performing team of engaged employees, including coaching and providing feedback, delegating, and managing workflow, and monitoring and evaluating performance.
  • Supporting corporate operational planning by producing premium and loss projections.
  • Providing technical and analytical assistance to other functional areas in support of corporate goals.
  • Assisting with statistical reporting to regulatory organizations and corporate partners.
  • Continuing professional development to maintain actuarial credentials.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
  • Associateship (ACAS) in the Casualty Actuarial Society required.
  • Minimum of six years of property/casualty actuarial experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of actuarial ratemaking techniques, especially for catastrophe-exposed personal and commercial property lines of business.
  • Thorough knowledge of reserving techniques and basic accounting principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry data sources and tools.
  • Solid history of working effectively with regulators.
